Why Your Organization is Mediocre

  • "A" players hire other A players.
  • B players think they are A players.
  • B players hire C players.
  • If an A player sneaks through the hiring process, they will either quit in short order, or become a B player.
  • B players will not promote A players to their own level, usually out of fear.

The organization thus descends into a steady state of mediocrity.

Evidence of a B player can be found in the statement: "If you think things are bad now, you should have seen us a year ago!"

The reality? The organization has progressed from an F to a D minus. Still a failing grade, but advertised as a success by B players.
